真心英雄和朋友

I would like to share this short video clip too. This was the finale of the Chung Ling Reunion Dinner. We sang 真心英雄 and 朋友.

As 非洲 (who is in his 7th day of high state) said this to O Pui and I "This group of friends are all very "transperant" one. I enjoyed the mixing around very much (though he was drank most of the time). Jin Jie Kueh Gian"

I concur with him. For those who missed it, this is the Jin Jie Kueh Gian gathering. Hope all the brothers will be there again in 2012!

Though O Bah, Axel, Chiang, Ang Tao are not with us, their pictures appeared on the stage too - a sign of they will be joining in 2012.

Btw, Huey Kaey made us proud by doing a good emcee on that night. It an extremely difficult to control crowd, but he did well.

CL87 20th Anniversary

Share with you some of the photos that you all may not have as you all were very high that night with the whisky, dances and songs. And also meeting with so many friends outside WOMEN circle. Look at APEE and Chicken 20 years ago.

Before the big day

We sent the highest ranked highest authority committee member, Ah Pek, to World Badminton Championship to learn about the organization of the badminton competition and also to document new techniques of lob, net play and smashes. We need to make sure our organization and competition is of the highest quality.

We had the KL delegation - Elephant, Chin Seng, Zhe Shean and I - to accompany Ah Pek. In the process, we hope to also witness a Malaysian in one of the finals. However it was not to be. The closest that we got was a Malaysia umpire for the Women's singles final.

The highlight for the afternoon was to jia yu (together with few charming Chinese supporters) for Lin Dan against Sony and the deafening Indonesian crowd.

Eye on Malaysia

Ah Pek's 3 family generations visited us in KL. Using the highest authority that I have, I decided to sanction this as official event for Wo-Men.

We took the opportunity to go Eye On Malaysia at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.
Just some facts :
  • The Eye on Malaysia is the Ferris Wheel with 42 gondolas.
  • It started operation on 6/1/07 (despite the CF issue, or the lack of it).
  • You can have a 360-degree panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur during a 12-minute ride that goes 60 metres high.
  • It offers a magnificent view of Kuala Lumpur and over 20 kilometres (though we can't see that far on that drizzling night.

My girl, Shi Rui had good fun with Yu Qian and Qi Lun. Qi Lun and Shi Rui bought and miniature ferris wheels, miniature fan with light and balloons. We had a 30min wait before boarding on the gondola. The wait was mainly due to the need to board the passengers in batches. I have taken few pictures during the ride but the products from my non-DSLR cameras are not so good. We were sitting on the 28th Gondola.

Thanks to Pek and family for the good Saturday outing.

Another Healthy Activity

Thanks to Hoe, we managed to have another badminton session at Permata Sports Complex at Paya Terubong. We decided to go into competitive mode - 4 of us competing for the honours.
We started with 1st championship playing for OKwang Challenge Trophy and the winner was Pek Hoe.
  • Hoe beat Turkey 6-4
  • Hoe beat Tatt 6-3
  • Turkey beat Tatt 6-4
We then had the 2nd championship playing for Tua Challenge Trophy and the winner was Tatt.
  • Turkey beat Hoe 6-2
  • Tatt beat Hoe 6-2
  • Tatt beat Turkey 6-4
We then had the 3rd championship playing for Tatt Challenge Trophy and with Pee joining, we had a joint winner in Pek Hoe and Tatt.
  • Hoe beat Tatt 6-3
  • Hoe beat Pee 6-4
  • Tatt beat Pee 6-1
  • Tatt beat Turkey 6-3
  • Pee beat Turkey 6-4
  • Turkey beat Hoe 6-4
Then the finale to vie for Turkey Challenge Trophy. We have the first wo-men double match played in 21-point system. After much confusion, the surprised winning pair was the fat-thin pair of Pek Hoe and Turkey.
  • Turkey-Hoe beat Tatt-Pee 21-19, 21-18
Turkey has a 38-inch waist line and is still growing while Hoe has a 25-inch waist line and is still shrinking. Their win has to be the biggest upset in the badminton history after Prakash Padukone's victory in All-England 1980.
Stay tuned for more healthy activities...

I am trying to write something in our blog so that others will think that the graduate from Scottish university is still boleh pakai. At least, better than the law graduate of the most popular university of Malaysia (UM). Just to share with you all my tuition centre. This is one of my classes.

Gotong Royong

This is yet another proof of Wo-Men brothershood spirit.

After the gruelling badminton session, we discovered that Ah Pee's car number plate has dropped off. Hence we quickly ran to the nearest Magnum Shop to buy the number (you can still see clearly from the post). Lau Ee & Tatto have a theory (which is yet to be patented) that one has a higher chance of winning if buying the number close to the 7pm.

Then we helped Ah Pee to fix this. With wit of Johnny Loo, strategic thinking of Dr Lim, best consultant Beng, this task was completed within minutes.

Btw, due to the non-technical reason, we only managed to play 2.25 sets of badminton. The results

Dream pair of HS Tatt-Ah Pek Hoe beat Fat pair of Ju-Pee 21-14, 21-6.

Powerful pair of Ju-HS Tatt were leading Turkey-Ah Pek Hoe 6-3 before making way for future Koo Kien Keats and Tan Boon Heongs to practice.

Survivor(s) of the fittest

This is the first sporting activity for Wo-Men in the new lunar year – the Hike to 84 of Penang Hill. Since this is a gruelling expedition, it was decided that each region only sent in their fittest brother to participate. Hence we have Turkey representing brothers residing in Penang, HongSoTatt representing brothers residing in KL and Ham representing brothers residing outside Malaysia.

We took the picture with the Chung Ling school logo marked on the stones to commemorate this important event.

One amazing thing that Ham and I found out was the popularity of Turkey among Penangites. He seemed to know every other man/woman we met on our way up and down. Ham and I only met and knew one Andrew Fong throughout our 2 hours expedition.

It was an extremely close race until we reached marker number 18. This was when Ham and HongSo pulled away from the rest (I mean the one) – the evidence is available in this post. Perhaps it's difficult for you to figure out where Turkey was in the picture....as it is really tiny.

At the end, Ham and HongSo registered a photo finish at the 84 marker with 46min 35.25sec. Turkey, at 75kg, was at the distant third with 1 hour 47min 46.21sec. All the brothers were rewarded with great Kopi O Kau, Chinese Tea and Roti Tiao at the finishing line.

The Penang contingent vowed to send in more competitive brother for the race next year. Rumours have it that in the last training session among the Penang based brothers, Lau Ee and Prince vomited even before reaching marker 43; and Ah Pong could not even lift his leg over the bar at the guard house.

Hopefully, we really have a fit brother in Penang.

We have a blog!

"It's amazing a group of old friends still enjoy each others company so much after all these years.Cheers to our friendship; that's the real celebration." - Ah Beh

I decided to use this quote from Ah Beh as the preamble to this blog. I think it's quite appropriately summing up our feeling and the sense of belonging that we have.

This is a blog about Wo-Men de Tong Xue Hui - formed by a group of 24 friends in 1987- and later progressed to 26-man strong tong xue hui. We are into 20 anniverssary year this year. And we are still growing strong as ever - despite we spent lesser time together as a group.

As usual for this year, we have the dinner on the first day of CNY. We then went to Ho Ko's palace for gathering, 3-ki-pai and AGM. Pai seh pai seh, I was elected as the Hui Chang for the next Lunar Year.

This is a simple blog just to kick start. Hopefully this will throw stone attract jade and we will have many better and memorable blogs from fellow brothers. I have sent the access rights to all brothers so as all of us can share the postings. The intent is to have every brother to write and post here - they can be the memories in the past, pieces of advice to fellow brothers, future plans, wo-men activities etc etc.
Welcome on board and happy posting, suaning and commenting!
